Bhanjanagar: Busting a criminal gang involved in three separate ghastly murder incidents in Karnoli village under Aska Tehsil Ganjam police today arrested at least nine of its members and seized a number of weapons from them.
The arrested accuseds have been identified as Ranjit Swain, Prafulla Kumar Bisoyi, Sambhu Bisoyi, Tukula Das, Sushant Kumar Bhuyan, Uma Barala, Ranjit Pradhan, Nilanchal Swain, and Prabhakar Swain.
Police also seized one pistol along with live cartridges, one sword, one billhook, one Tata Indigo (Registration No. OD 07 F 8668), one Ambassador (Registration No. OR 07 K 8121) and one truck (Registration No. OD 07 Q 8511 ) from the possession of the gang members.
“The gang was involved in Jilu Gouda murder case which took place in Karnoli village in 2015-16. They were also involved in another two similar crimes in the village including Balaram Gouda abduction and killing incident. All the killings were carried out in connection with a village dispute,” said Subhash Chandra Panda, Aska SDPO.
