Keonjhar: A 6-year-old girl died after being bitten by a snake in Hatikucha village under Sadar Police Station area in Keonjhar district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Sukanti Munda.
Sunkanti who went to sleep in her room after dinner last night was bitten by a venomous snake late in the night following which she woke up and complaint of stomach pain. Family members rushed the girl to a village quack instead of a doctor after coming to known about the snakebite.
However, the girl was taken to Padmapur CHC due to deteriorating condition later and from there was rushed to Keonjhar DHH. She died under treatment at around 3 AM.
Police have lodged a case of unnatural death in the incident and started investigation.
Notably, in a similar incident in the district last Sunday, a man died while his wife turned critical in snakebite at Bhagamunda village under Harichandanpur tehsil.
