29 BJP workers arrested ahead of CM’s Sambalpur visit

Sambalpur Sambalpur: Twenty nine BJP workers were taken into preventive custody by Sambalpur Police here today ahead of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit to the city. The arrested activists held a rally in the city in the morning and protested ex-MLA Jayanarayan Mishra’s preventive custody yesterday, said police.

Mishra was taken into custody by the Sambalpur along with a few supporters last night.

Hundreds of supporters of Mishra took out a rally in the town holding black flags and resorted to sloganeering against CM’s visit this morning. Some eggs were also seen being hurled on the roads during the rally, which compelled the police to arrest the activists. 32 platoons of police force was deployed in the city to prevent any untoward incident during the CM’s visit.

The Chief Minister would inaugurate a slew of projects in Sambalpur today, including flagging off a set of 10 City Buses, state’s second planetarium at Burla as well as a science park.
