2 killed, 2 hurt in separate road mishaps in Odisha

Angul/Soro: At least two persons were killed and an equal number sustained injury in separate road mishaps which struck the state since last night.

In the first instance, three youths turned critical after a bike (Registration No. OD 01 G 7971) they were riding on dashed against a bridge wall near Jamujhadi on NH-16 in Balasore district last night.

The Injured were immediately rushed to Simulia Community Health Centre (CHC) in critical condition where one of them succumbed.

The deceased has been identified as Bijesh Moharana, son of Bhagirathi Mohanrana of Oupada Daripokhari village. Bijesh was returning home along with two of his friends after attending a function in Jamujhadi area when the tragedy struck. Bijesh was working as a driver in Ishwarpur Medical.

In another accident which took place this morning, a morning walker was killed after being mowed down by an unidentified vehicle near Bimalbeda on NH-55 under Jarpada police limits in Angul district.

The deceased has been identified as Chandan Pradhan.

Angry locals staged a road blockade on the highway following the mishap and demanded compensation to the victim’s kin.

Police later reached the spot and rushed the body for autopsy.
