2 including minor boy killed in separate snake bite incidents in Dhenkanal

Kamakhyanagar: At least two persons including a minor boy were killed in separate incidents of snake bites which struck Dhenkanal district since last night.

In the first instance, the victim identified as Sumant Munda (9) of Ekatali village under Kamakhyanagar police limits was returning home after some work last night when a venomous snake bit him.

Though the family members of the victim admitted him to Kamakhyangar Medical in critical conditions he succumbed under treatment there.

In a similar incident late in the night yesterday at Adhapali village under Kankadahad Police Station area, a girl identified as Rashmita Dehury (19) turned critical after being bitten by a snake. The reptile struck while the victim was asleep.

The girl died before being taken to hospital

Notably, cases of snake bites have registered a sharp rise in the state with the onset of the monsoon.

In similar cases, a four-year-old girl was killed after being bitten by a venomous snake in Manata village under Ghatagaon Police Station area in Keonjhar district on July 22. Earlier on July 11, a six-year-old girl had also been killed due to snake bite in Hatichua village under Sadar Police Station area in the same district.
