1 killed, 7 hurt in separate road mishaps in Dhenkanal

Kamakhyanagar: At least one person was killed and seven others sustained injuries in separate road mishaps under Kamakhyanagar subdivision in Dhenkanal district since last night.

In the first instance, a youth was killed and two others sustained critical injuries after a bike they were traveling on skidded off the road and struck a roadside palm tree at Dangapala Square under Kankadahada police limit last night.

Police reached the spot and seized the body of the deceased identified as Rabi Dehury of Karadapal village in Kantol panchayat.

The injured duo identified as Niranjan Dehury and Jaga Dehury of the same village were later rushed to Kamakhyanager Subdivisional Hospital in critical condition in a 108 ambulance.

In a similar incident later in the night, an auto-rickshaw carrying a number of passengers hit a bridge sidewall at Sagor Chhak under Tumusinga police limits leaving three injured and two others critical.

The critically hurt duo identified as Majhan Behera and Amuli Behera of Kandarsinga village were immediately rushed to Anlabareni CHC with other injured by police. They were later shifted to Dhenkanal DHH.

The auto was heading to Dhenkanal from Kakakhyanagar when the mishap took place.
