Cuttack: At least one person was killed and three others including a woman and a child were hurt in separate road mishaps which took place at different places in Cuttack district since last night.
In the first instance, driver of a Mahindra Bolero which was returning from Gamilo village under Kanpur police limits after a marriage party late in the night, lost control over the wheels and ended up hitting a roadside tree. With no passenger present in the vehicle at the time of the crash, the driver identified as Hadibandhu Sahu sustained critical injury as the vehicle got completely mangled from the front.
The victim was first rushed to Kanpur CHC by some locals and then shifted to SCB Medical College where he succumbed to the injuries.
Police have rushed the body for autopsy and seized the mangled vehicle.
In a similar incident this morning at Ranasankha village under Banki Police Station area, a bus carrying passengers from Balipahada to Cuttack skidded off the road and dashed against a roadside tree. At least three passengers including a woman and a child were hurt in the accident and admitted to Banki Sub Divisional Hospital.
The conditions of the injured are out of danger now, said medical authorities.
