IPL 2017: Gambhir, Narine power KKR beat KXIP by 8 Wickets

Skipper Gautam Gambhir hit an unbeaten 72 to power Kolkata Knight Riders beat Kings XI Punjab by 8 wickets in a crucial IPL tie in Kolkata.

Earlier, Kings XI had posted 170/9 in 20 overs. None of their batsmen could reach the figure of 30. Manan Vohra and David Miller scored 28 each. Amla, Maxwell and Saha made 25 each.

For KKR, Umesh Yadav took 4 wickets, while Woakes took two. Sunil Narine conceded just 19 runs in 4 overs and took one wicket.

Kolkata Knight Riders produced excellent batting display as openers Gambhir and Narine added 76 runs for the first wicket in 5.4 overs. They reached the target in 16.3 overs by losing just two wickets.

Apart from Gambhir (72*), Narine 37, Uthappa 26, Manish Pandey 25* were the other top scorers. Sunil Narine was declared ‘Man of the Match’ for his allrounder performance.

It was KKR’s 8th consecutive win over KXIP in IPL.
