FIFA U-17 Football World Cup 2017 begins today

FIFA U-17 world CupNew Delhi/Mumbai:  The football extravaganza, FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017, will kick off with four opening day matches to be played in New Delhi and Mumbai this evening. This is the first time that India is hosting a FIFA World Cup.

Hosts India will meet USA at 8 p.m at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the national capital, while Colombia will clash with Ghana at 5 p.m. The other two matches of the day – between New Zealand and Turkey and between Paraguay and Mali – will be played at the Dr. DY Patil stadium in the financial capital of the country.

As many as 24 teams are participating in the mega event during which a total of 52 matches will be held in six different venues across the country. The final of the tournament will be held at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on October 28.

A clouded leopard called “Kheleo” has been declared as the mascot of the global event.
