58th National Inter-state Senior Athletics Meet: Odisha’s Jauna Murmu gets gold in 400m hurdles

Guwahati: Odisha’s Jauna Murmu bagged gold medal in 400 meters women hurdles in the ongoing 58th National Inter-state Senior Athletics Championships being held here on Tuesday.

With a timing of 57.02 seconds, Jauna also set new championship record and also qualified for the Jakarta Asian Games.

Anu R of Kerala (57.68 sec) and Saritaben Gayakwad of Gujarat (58.01) won the silver and bronze medals respectively.

On the other hand, ace sprinter Dutee Chand also qualified for 200m race for the Jakarta Asian Games, scheduled to be held in August-September this year, for her performances in the athletics championships today. She clocked 23.46 second to cover the distance at the Indira Gandhi International Stadium here.

Another Odis athlete Srabani Nanda has also qualified for the finals of women’s 200m event during the national inter-state senior athletics meet.
