Karunanidhi’s condition extremely critical and unstable: Hospital

Chennai: The health condition of DMK leader and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi is “extremely critical and unstable”. This was informed by the Kauvery Hospital this evening.

The hospital authority in a press release said, “There has been significant decline in the clinical condition of Karunanidhi over the last few hours. Despite maximum medical support, his vital organ functions continue to deteriorate. His condition is extremely critical and unstable,” a hospital statement said.

Meanwhile, thousands of DMK workers have gathered near the hospital after it released the statement.

Some of his family members, including his daughter Selvi returned to Gopalapuram residence from the hospital and entered the house crying.

Many business establishment also have been reportedly shut down while police are creating open space on the premises of Karunanidhi’s residence.

If sources are to be believed, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee to arrive in Chennai at around 9.30 PM in the wake of Karunanidhi’s deteriorating health.

Heavy security arrangements have been made by the Tamil Nadu Police from the hospital premises to Karunanidhi’s house.

Notably, the 94-year-old veteran politician is undergoing treatment in the hospital due to age-related health issues since July 28.
