India celebrates 72nd Independence Day

New Delhi: India is celebrating its 72nd Independence Day today. On this day each and every Indian remembers those brave hearts who made the dream of an independent India a reality.

The main function held at the historic Red Fort where Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the tri-colour. He is now addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort.

Earlier, the Prime Minister visited Rajghat, the samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi and offered floral tribute there.

In his fifth address from the Red Fort, the Prime Minister said, the decision on Minimum Support Price for Kharif crops, which was pending for years, was taken by his government for the benefit of the farmers.

Mr Modi said, with a ‘Beej Se Bazar Tak’ approach, the government is bringing remarkable changes in the agriculture sector, and the aim is to double the farmers’ income by 2022.
