Youth dies of Electrocution during Maoists’ Road blockade in Odisha

Nuapada: In a tragic incident, a young man died of electrocution near Sinapali area in the district on Monday after he came in contact with live electric wires which had fallen on the road as the Maoists had cut the roadside trees to press their demand.

The deceased has been identified as Sahadev Sa of Chatiaguda village under Sinapali police limits in the district. He was burnt alive after accidentally coming in contact with the electric wires which had fallen on a tree.

The Menpur-Nuapada Divisional Committee of CPI (M) staged road blockade by cutting several roadside trees in the area to press their demanded to release their comrades Sumitra Dharua, Makran Paharia and Yusuf Mohammed from police custody.

Hundreds of Maoists posters have surfaced in and around Nilaji and Karlakhamar villages demanding immediate release of three red rebels from the jail.

The leftist-extremists, in the posters, said that woman cadre Maoist Sumitra had surrendered before the Nuapada police a week ago. However, she has been detained by the police since then, they alleged.
