Rourkela: A youth was brutally beaten to death by the family members of his lover when he had been to attend her marriage function in Jagdishpur village under Kuanrmunda Police Station in Sundergarh district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Alvis Ekka of Banaguni village.
Kuanrmunda Police said Alvis was in love with a girl from Jagdishpur village for last couple of months. However, the girl’s family arranged her marriage with someone else after rejecting their relationship and the wedding was being held yesterday. Inviting the wrath of the girl’s family members, Alvis reached her village to attend the marriage last night. He was denied entry and brutally attacked by the family members of his lover in which he died.
They attackers dumped the body beside a road in the village later in the night.
Police recovered Alvis’s dead body in the morning and lodged cases against the girl’s family members.
Nobody has been arrested in the incident so far.
