Bhubaneswar: Protesting the non-fulfilment of demands, the Sarpanch of Goutami Panchayat in Sanakhemundi block of Ganjam district resorted to a unique demonstration by beating gong during a Panchayat Samiti meeting.
According to reports, a meeting of Sanakhemundi Panchayat Samiti was underway this morning after a gap of eight months, where Sarpanch of Goutami Panchayat Susant Swain beat gong as a mark of protest.
Swain alleged that funds meant for the people are not spent properly.
“No work is being carried out here without Percentage Commission (PC). Everyone is indulging in corruption. Panchayat Samiti meeting should be convened once in every three months, but here the meeting is held after eight months. Therefore, I beat the gong as a mark of protest,” alleged Susant Swain.
He also threatened to intensify his protest if the local administration fails to address the issue.
“This time I beat only the gong. If the local administration fails to wake-up and solve the issue, I will intensify my agitation,” he added.
