WWC17Final: Best wishes pour in for ‘Women In Blue’ as they take on ENG today Bhubaneswar: People from all sections of society across the country wished the Indian women, who are slated to take on hosts England in their maiden ICC Women’s World Cup final at the iconic Lord’s ground at 3 PM today.

Famous sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a splendid sand sculpture on Puri sea beach to wish the Indian women all the best for the World Cup final.

“I wish the Indian team and captain all the best for their maiden ICC Women’s World Cup final today,” said Pattnaik.

All eyes are on the Indian side as the Indian men had won the 1983 World Cup under the captaincy of Kapil Dev at the same venue.

Led by Mithali Raj, the Indian team stormed into the final after beating strong Australia. This is the first time the Women in Blue entered the world cup final after 12 years. They were beaten by the Australia back in 2005.

However, they are now fully confident as they have entered the final after all-round performances in the presence of two very experienced players Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami.

Three-time World Cup winner England, on the other hand, are on a winning spree as they have won seven straight games to enter the summit clash. The only loss they suffered was at the hands od India in the tournament opener.

If India win, they will become only the fourth team to do so with England, Australia and New Zealand sharing all the preceding titles.
