Woman killed for dowry, body dumped in forest in Nayagarh

Nayagarh: Continuing with the unabated crime against women in the state, another woman was found murdered by her husband and in-laws in Kandha Bhogabadi village under Daspalla police limits in Nayagarh district on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Hara Khilar, wife of Banambar Khilar.

The murder came to fore after some locals who visited a nearby forest in the village for firewood collection this morning, came across foul smell coming out from a hilly tract. Reaching the spot they notice a woman’s body dumped over there. They immediately recovered the body from the tract with the help of a Grama Rakhi and informed Daspalla Police.

After police reached the spot and examined the body, it was found to be of Hara Khilar. They immediately rushed the body for post-mortem in Daspalla CHC.

While police have started investigation, they suspect the in-laws of the woman to be behind the killing who are absconding from the village.

Some residents in the village also claimed that Hara, who happens to be the daughter of one Sukuta Pradhan of Gaya Ganda village in Ganjam was tortured for dowry in the hands of her in-laws since last five years ago.

Police investigation is underway to nab the accused.
