Anandpur: A woman sustained critical burn injury in a LPG cylinder fire which erupted at a house in Fakirpur village on the outskirts of Anandpur Municipality in Keonjhar district on Sunday.
The victim has been identified as Jhuma Sura, daughter of Gopal Sura of the same village.
The victim was busy preparing tea at her house located in the Bangali Sahi area in the village in the morning hours when the mishap took place. While trying to ignite the burner of a gas stove in the kitchen the victim’s clothes caught fire due to her negligence and engulfed her within minutes. She was badly burnt in the blaze and turned critical on the spot.
Family members rushed the victim to Anandpur Sub-Divisional Hospital immediately and later shifted to SCB Medical in Cuttack due to deteriorating condition.
Doctors treating the victim said she has sustained a burn injury of around 80 per cent and still remains in a critical state.
