Soro: In a case of betrayal of trust, a woman from Kamarpur village of Balasore district levelled charges of rape against a man whom she claimed to have physical relationship with her for nine long years, on the pretext of marriage before dumping.
The accused has been identified as Sangram Murmu, a resident of Sarumuna village under Soro police limits and a fire service personnel by profession.
As per the FIR filed with Soro Police by the complainant woman, she came in touch with Sangram in 2009 while running a tailoring shop in Rasagobindapur Market. As their acquaintances developed further, it gradually grew into an affair between the two and the accused managed to establish a sexual relationship with her on pretext of marriage.
The accused also impregnated her for two occasions during their relationship and made her to go for abortion in both the cases. Their relationship went through a bad phase after Sangram got a job in fire services department a few years ago, the complainant added in her FIR.
The victim finally made her mind to lodge a police complaint yesterday after she came to know about the marriage of the accused which has been scheduled to be held with another woman on June 18.
Meanwhile, the Jagruti Mahila Sangh of Balasore met the Fire Services SP in Cuttack to apprise him on the issue and demanded action on the accused.
