Bhubaneswar: In a major loss to the Nandankanan Zoological Park here, a white tigress died of old age ailments on Saturday.
According to Nandankan officials, , 18 year old Kusum fell ill in July this year and had reduced her food intake following her month-long health woes.
“Kusum was seen remaining idle at the feeding chamber of the white tiger safari and had not taken food for the last three days,” zoo officials informed.
On December 28, 1999, Kusum was born to tiger Ram and tigress Shreya. She had bred seven offsprings in three litters (5 white tiger and 2 normal tiger) during her life time.
