Berhampur: Continuing with its crackdown on dreaded criminals in the district, Ganjam police nabbed another history-sheeter after an encounter in Goshani area under Nuagaon police limits last night.

The arrested criminal has been identified as Kalia Sahu alias Musha.

The raid was conducted after Nuagaon Police got a tip-off on Musha’s suspicious movement in Khajuria area along with some aides late in the night. Smelling something fishy in the matter, a patrolling team of Nuagaon Police reached the spot at around 11 AM and tried to nab the criminal. Nuagaon Police which was later joined by Bada Bazar Police, faced stiff resistance from Musha, who opened fire at the cops to escape from the spot. However, he sustained a bullet injury on his left leg after police retaliated and was caught.

A pistol and a number of live cartridges were also seized from the spot.

Musha was rushed to MKCG Medical in Berhampur by police following the encounter.

Police said the arrested criminal has a number of murder, loot and extortion cases pending against him at different police stations in the district. He also happens to be the main accused in Berhampur Good Shed Road ‘Nutan Wine’ liquor shop bomb hurling incident which took place in 2017.
