Cuttack: Launching a crackdown on history-sheeters in the Millennium City, the Twin City Commissionerate Police arrested wanted criminal Trilochan Nahak after an encounter at Badhei Sahi near Gopalpur under Sadar Police limits last night.
The encounter took place at around 8.30 PM in the night after Sadar Police received specific information on the presence of Trilochan alias Budhia on NH-16 near Gopalpur old toll gate. A police team led by Sub Inspector KS Barad immediately conducted a raid and rounded up the criminal near the toll gate.
However Budhia tried to flee from the spot in a bid to give police a slip by riding his Bajaj Pulsar bike (Registration No. OD 33 D 6413). After police open fired at him, he sustained bullet injury on his right leg and was caught subsequently.
Police seized one 9 MM loaded pistol and another single shot country made pistol from the possession of the arrested criminal during the encounter.
Budhia was rushed to SCB Medical in Cuttack soon after the encounter and is currently under treatment.
Police said the arrested criminal has over 19 cases pending against him at Sarankul, Daspalla and Nayagarh Police Station areas. He was also wanted in a murder case under Bishnupur Police Station in Jamshedpur of Jharkhand State.
