Nuapada: In a crackdown on corrupt officials in the district, Vigilance sleuths arrested Khariar (KL) Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Laxmikant Mishra while accepting Percentage Commission (PC) from a person here last night.
A team of the anti-corruption bureau officials raided Laxmikant’s office located in Khariar area in the night, acting upon a complaint lodged by Khariar Ranger Parshuram Patel earlier. During the raid Laxmikant was found accepting a PC of Rs 2.20 lakh from the Ranger to pass a bill for official building construction of the Forest Departement. The DFO was immediately taken into custody along with the cash by the Vigilance officials.
Raid was also conducted at Laxmikant’s house located in the Town. Vigilance team checked various important documents kept their and also seized cash worth Rs 10 lakh.
The DFO has been forwarded to court following his arrest.
