Use of mobile phone takes 2 lives in Odisha’s Sarada

Berhampur: Use of mobile phone has cost two lives at Kushapada village under Dharakote police limits in Sarada area of Ganjam district.

One Rajendra Panda (56) of the village had been time and again asking his son Kalpabata Panda (22), an ITI pass out to focus on his studies and not to use mobile phone. Yesterday too, Rajendra requested Kalpabata not to use mobile phone while he was playing cricket game on the cellphone, following which, the youth run away from the house in the evening. His family members with the help of the locals searched him at all the possible locations, but in vain.

However, some villagers noticed his body hanging from a tree in a mango farm this morning and informed his family members. Upset over son’s death, Rajendra also took the drastic step on the spot in front of the villagers. He was rescued and rushed to the local hospital, where doctor declared him brought dead.

Meanwhile, the bodies have been sent to Sarada Community Health Centre for postmortem.

While an investigation has been started by the Dharakote cops, a pall of gloom descended in the area following the incident.
