Two Odias receive Padma Shri Award

New Delhi: Pravakar Maharana and Gobaradhan Panika from Odisha received the Padma Shri Award from the President Ram Nath Kovind here on Tuesday.

Pravakar Maharana received the fourth highest civilian award of the country in art-sculpture while Gobaradhan Panika was given the same in the art weaving category. Pani is master weaver of ‘Kotpad’ style of tribal weaving.

Music maestro Ilaiyaraaja and senior RSS ideologue P Parameswaran are among 39 people who got the Padma Awards-2018.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many Union Ministers and several other dignitaries attended the function at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
