Khordha: A pall of gloom descended on Orami village under Narangarh Grama Panchayat in the district following the death of two minor sisters who died after drowning in the village pond this morning.
The deceased have been identified as Lapamudra Jena (13) and Rashmi Jena (8).
According to reports, Lopamudra and Rashmi, natives of Sarana village under Tangi police limits, had gone to their uncle’s house to spend their summer holidays. They went to the village pond for bathing, however, unfortunately, drowned and died in the pond itself.
Their bodies were noticed by some locals who had gone to take bathe in the pond and informed about the matter to their uncle.
Local police arrived on the spot and took the bodies to the district headquarters hospital for postmortem. The cops also began a probe into the incident.
Meanwhile, the parents of the deceased minor girls also have been informed about the tragic death of the girls.
