Traders observe 12-hr bandh in Balasore

Balasore: Protesting the deteriorating law and order situation in the district, the Trade Union Association Cooperation Committee (TUACC) observed a 12-hour Balasore bandh today.

While shops and other business establishments remained closed during the bandh observation, vehicular movement on roads also came to a grinding halt. Similarly, schools and colleges along with other educational institutions were shut down in view of any untoward incident during the bandh protest.

The trade union members are alleging absolute lawlessness in the district and is claiming that police is dilly dallying in taking action against criminals. Seeking an immediate attention of the district administration, the bandh supporters also claimed that the district has registered a boom in broad daylight robbery, loot, murder and other major crimes in past few months.

While all Left parties have backed the bandh, Congress has also extended its support to it of late.
