Nabarangpur: Tension prevailed at Dabugaon Community Health Centre in the district on Saturday following a student’s death due to food poisoning.
The deceased student was among 14 students who were admitted to the hospital after falling sick. Health condition of 13 students is said to be critical.
The students and staff of Maliguda Sevashram School reportedly had a five-day long programme followed by school picnic. However, the students were taken ill allegedly after consuming stale food served to them yesterday.
While most of them suffered from dysentery and vomiting, some of them also complained of having stomach ache. They were rushed to the hospital where a seventh standard student identified as Gurubandhu Bhatra breathed his last while undergoing treatment this morning.
Alleging the negligence of the school authorities for the incident, some locals along with the parents of the students created ruckus in the hospital. Police are on the spot.
