St. Xaviers School student drowns to death in Odisha

Puri: Bathing in the sea along with friends turned out to be fatal for a class XII student of Khandagiri-based St. Xaviers High School in Bhubaneswar.

According to sources, Pratik Mohapatra of the private English medium school had gone for a school picnic to Puri. Later, along with some of his friends he went to the sea at Jahania near Astaranga for taking bath. Unfortunately the XII student drowned while bathing.

Some locals rescued him and admitted to Astaranga Primary Health Centre (PHC) in a critical condition and later shifted him to Nimapara Community Health Centre (CHC) where doctor declared him brought dead.

Meanwhile, Pratik’s parents and the school management have reached the hospital. Police have also initiated an investigation into the incident.
