Cuttack: Lalbag police today filed a charge sheet at the Cuttack SDJM court against social activist Jayant Das for posting defamatory remarks against Lord Jagannath and Gajapati King Dibyasingha Deb on Facebook.
Briefing media persons on the development, government advocate Biswajeep Baral said Jayant has been charged under Section 292, 295 (A), 504 of IPC and also under Section 67 of Information Technology Act.
Hearing in the case would start soon, added the advocate. The case was filed by lawyer Jayshankar Acharya.
Das has been already convicted and sentenced to six years of imprisonment in a case of cyber stalking by the Puri SDJM court. In what is believed to be the first conviction in a cyber porn case in the state, he was convicted for stalking, sending obscene messages, defaming and causing mental harassment to a lady by putting up her personal details and information on a pornography website.
