SOA Fraud: Tension prevails at ITER Campus
Bhubaneswar: Hundreds of students and their parents gheraoed the Siksha O’ Anusandhan (SOA) University over the fake job offer letters issued to the candidates through campus recruitment, which put their career in jeopardy.
One platoon of police force have been deployed in the campus. But, the students have opposed the police intervention and sought immediate resolution to the crisis.
The issue came to light after the students selected through various campus recruitment process at ITER, Bhubaneswar, were snubbed by the respective companies including Huawei, Mitsubishi etc.
The students immediately got in touch with Prof. Raj Hota, who was in charge of Placement, resigned taking moral responsibility. The University put the blame on placement agencies hired for this purpose.
The SOA has given several options to the students who were cheated through fake offer letters. That includes a Teaching Assistant job at Rs 20,000 per month for a year, full waiver of M.Tech course at the University etc.
However, students have refused to relent and sought immediate placement at reputed companies as promised to them earlier.
