Nuapada: A Senior Clerk of Khariar Notified Area Committee was arrested on Saturday for allegedly misbehaving with subordinate female employees and vandalizing CCTVs installed inside office premise.
The accused clerk, identified as Meghanad Kumar, was taken into custody on the basis of a complaint lodged by NAC Executive Officer Prabhash Kumar Samant against him at the Kharira Police Station.
As per the complaint Kumar called an NAC meeting on November 19 to distribute funds under various social security schemes in the area, despite the day being a holiday. During the meeting, he allegedly misbehaved with some female employees. After the victims met Nuapada Collector Poma Tudu and briefed her on the issue, she directed the Executive Officer of the ULB to install CCTVs in all the chambers of the office. However, Kumar allegedly vandalized CCTVs installed in the office premise.
After the Executive Officer lodged a case against the clerk, Tudu ordered for his arrest.
Kumar charged under Section 379 and 427 of IPC was forwarded to court by Khariar Police following his arrest.
