School staff robbed of over Rs 5 lakh at gun point

Phulbani: Unidentified miscreants robbed over Rs 5 lakh in broad daylight from the staff of a private English medium school at gun point on NH-59 near Patangi village under Daringbadi police limits in Kandhamal district on Tuesday.

The staff identified as Md. Nurali, Manager of Good Shepherd English Medium School located in Daringbadi area was on his way to deposit school donation money in HDFC bank, Phulbani branch when the loot took place.

“Two Bajaj Pulsar-borne miscreants chased and intercepted me at a secluded place on the Highway. They later snatched the cash bag from me which was carrying school money worth Rs 5,23,933 at gun point. They also took away my mobile phone and gave me an ultimatum to leave the district within two days,” stated the FIR lodged by Nurali at the Daringbadi Police Station in connection with the case.

Police have sealed all roads connecting the area to neighbouring districts and trying to trace the miscreants who are on the run.
