New Delhi: Supreme Court transferred the much-hyped Kunduli cases to Orissa High Court on Friday.

The apex court bench of Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel and Justice Uday Umesh Lalit directed the Orissa High Court to hear the case.

The victim’s brother had on February 7 filed a petition in the top court seeking a CBI probe into the alleged gang rape of his sister by security personnel and her suicide. He has said in the petition that he had no faith on the investigation carried out by Odisha police.

He had also alleged that police and other administrative officials had conspired to prove the victim’s statement as false and thus urged the court to file a criminal case against them.

Earlier, he had also approached the Koraput Sessions Court and filed a case alleging that negligence on the part of several government officials in the matter had led to the suicide.

As many as five PILs have already been filed in Orissa High Court seeking CBI probe into the alleged gang rape and suicide case of the Kunduli victim.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who returned from his Delhi tour today, said, “We always want free and fair investigation into the matter. The state government is moving the honourable High Court for a court monitoring probe by the Special Investigation Team (SIT). I want justice at the earliest possible time in the most important matter.”
