Puri: International sand artists Manas Sahoo, Sudarshan Pattnaik and their students created two separate sand sculptures to ‘salute’ the power and contribution of women to the society on the occasion of the International Women’s Day on Thursday.

Manas Sahoo erected a 15-feet width sand art with a theme “Women are as courageous as men” near Light House on Puri sea beach. He and his students used around 20 tonnes of sand to build the sand art in 7 hours.

Sahoo has compared women with a huge tree. “As a tree faces all adversities, women too tolerate all pain and suffering but take care and protect her family happily,” he said.

“As a tree gives comfort during sunny day through its shade and helps to keep the environment unpolluted, same way a woman after getting educated, educates and helps her child, family and the entire society to build a civilized society, which in turn helps progress and prosperity of the nation,” she added.

Likewise, noted sand artist Sudarshan’s sand which he built in Baharain says “Let’s reduce the gender gap and empower women”. He created a sand art of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa with this empowering message.

Students of Sudarsan Sand Art Institute also built a beautiful sand art in Puri beach. The colourful sand sculpture has a message – ‘Together We Are Powerful’.
