Sambalpur Muthoot Finance Loot: 10 accused held from Patna in Bihar

Sambalpur: Cracking the broad daylight Muthoot Finance heist of December 28, Sambalpur police succeeded in arresting the 10 accused involved in the case from Patna today.

Informing on the development, Sambalpur SP Sanjeev Arora said the main accused identified as Subodh Kant Singh along with nine aides were nabbed from Patna town with the help of Bihar Special Task Force (STF).

The raid was conducted on the hideout of the looter gang this morning after STF got a tip-off on it and intimated Sambalpur Police. During the raid the gang members opened fire at police but the cops managed to nab them subsequently. They also seized pistol, live cartridges and gold ornaments weighing 15 kg from the spot.

The Muthoot Finance branch located on the busy Budharaja-Fatak main road in Sambalpur and adjacent to the Regional Offices of two nationalized banks, a large jewellery shop and Odisha State Cooperative Bank was targeted by the looters on December 28 in a planned manner. After reaching the branch boarding a Maruti Suzuki Swift car and threatening the staff at gunpoint, the looters decamped with cash worth lakhs and gold jewelries.
