Salipur rape survivor still critical: SCB Superintendent

Cuttack: The health condition of the minor girl, who is now battling for life after allegedly being raped by one Md Mustafa person, continues to be critical.

Informing about the girl’s health condition, SCB Medical College and Hospital Superintendent Shyama Kanungo said that her health condition continues to be critical despite slight improvement today.

The girl is in the ventilator and a 13-member team is treating her. Besides, different samples have been sent to the forensic laboratory for the test, Kanungo added. However, she avoided questions on the alleged rape of the six-year-old.

Notably, the girl had gone to buy biscuits on Saturday evening. There was a power cut in the village and her family members started searching her after having waited long for her to return home. While searching her in the village, the minor girl was rescued in an unconscious state from the veranda of a school at Salipur in the district here on Saturday evening. She was rushed to Salipur Community Health Centre (CHC) and later shifted to SCB Hospital after her condition deteriorated.

On the other hand, her family members alleged that the girl was raped and an attempt was also made to kill her as blood was oozing out from her mouth.
