Rourkela: The Central Goods and Service Tax (CGST) Rourkela Commissionerate busted CGST fraud in the Steel City on Tuesday.
CGST Rourkela Commissioner Satyendra Kumar Singh informed that his team found out Rs 11.50 crore CGST fraud in Rourkela range.
“Since the inception of GST, our Commissionerate had a close vigil to find irregularity, if done any. Now we have found out that 10-15 people are collecting the GST, but not paying them. So, our preventive team approached five people out of 15 and collected a penalty of Rs 8.5 crore. We will approach others and ask them to pay the GST. If they continue to violate the GST paying norms, we will take action against them,” said Satyendra Kumar Singh while speaking to the reporters.
According to reports, this is the first case of CGST fraud in Odisha.
