Rescued baby’s DNA mismatches with Sambalpur couple

rescued babySambalpur: The DNA test of the baby who was rescued from Bargarh a few days ago arrived today, mismatched with the couple whose child was stolen from Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) on April 23.

Speaking to Kalinga TV today morning, Sambalpur SP Sanjeev Arora said that as per the DNA test report, the baby does not belong to the Majhi couple of the city. Without going into the details of the report,  Arora added that the identity of the rescued baby could only be ascertained after another investigation.

The baby boy which underwent the test was recovered from a couple in Bargarh district on October 8 by a team of Sambalpur Police which was probing the April 23 child theft case.

Notably, the new born baby boy of Aniruddha Majhi and Geetanjali Majhi of Amilipani village under Jujumura block of the district went missing from Obstetrics and Gynaecology ward of the Sambalpur district head quarter hospital on April 23 while the couple was asleep. After an investigation, the hospital authorities found visuals of an unidentified woman rushing out of the hospital with the baby in the same night. Police have failed to trace the woman so far.
