New Delhi: Though the exclusion of Odisha’s tableau in the upcoming Republic Day parade in New Delhi has disappointed the people of the state, the inclusion of Odisha girl Mita Hansda in the newly-raised all-woman bikers’ contingent of Border Security Force (BSF) for the parade, will definitely gladden one and all in the state.

Mita Hansda of Dhenkanal district has made the state proud by getting selected in the 27-member BSF women ‘daredevils’ team. The bikers are now sweating hard ahead of their debut on this Republic Day.

“I feel happy to be a part of the team that is going to mark its debut on the Republic Day parade in New Delhi,” Hansda told Kalinga TV. “Initially I was frightened for this stunt, but not now,” she added.

Hansda also appealed the young women bikers of the country to take precautionary measures while showcasing such stunts.

“I appeal all the women bikers to be careful and take precautionary measures to avoid any untoward incident while displaying such shows,” she added.

The BSF women team will exhibit their stunts and acrobatics on their 350cc Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles. The all woman squad has been named as ‘Seema Bhavani’ and have been selected from various combat ranks of the force.

The women daredevil bikers’ squad was raised by the country’s largest border guarding force last year, on the lines of their much-acclaimed male counterparts.
