Rehman produced in JMFC court, to remain in Choudwar jail till May 17

Suspected AQIS operative Abdur Rehman in Salipur JMFC court Suspected Al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) operative Abdur Rehman was on Monday produced before the Salipur Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court amid tight security.

Rehman was produced before the court on the basis of an appeal made by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch, which is probing the case. He was brought from the Tihar Jail in New Delhi.

Later, the court directed the STF to lodge Reheman at Choudwar Jail in Cuttack till May 17 following his counsel’s request.

Delhi police, with the help of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police, had arrested the suspected AQIS operative on December 15, 2015 for illegally running a Madrasa in Tangi area near Cuttack and radicalizing youths for terror activities. Later, he was booked under provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
