Cuttack: Tension run high on the premises of Ravenshaw University as more than hundred students of the institute under the aegis of Ravenshaw Chhatra Kriyanusthan Committee staged a demonstration over fulfillment of their several demands here on Tuesday.
The students staged demonstration in front of Vice-Chancellor’s office protesting fee hike, official order to vacate hostels by May 28 and introduction of compulsory meals for hostel boarders. They also demanded appointment of professors and lecturers in all the vacant posts and re-introduction of previous instant examination system for final year students.
They were seen holding placards and sloganeering against the authorities of the premium institute of the state.
The agitating students threatened to intensify their protest until their demands are fulfilled.
On being informed, Commissionerate Police arrived on the spot. Efforts are on, by the police and staff of the University, to pacify the agitating students.
