Puri: Following Supreme Court’s suggestion for reforms in Puri Shree Jagannath Temple, the temple Administration or SJTA has imposed restriction on collection of offerings and donations by servitors from devotees during this year’s Ratha Yatra, which is slated to be held on July 14.

SJTA Chief Administrator Pradipta Mohapatra, while speaking to newsmen today, informed that the temple administration has decided to debar the servitors from accepting any form of donation from the devotees during the Rath Yatra.

The temple administration will install a total of 12 hundis (donation boxes), four each hundis, on the three chariots and the devotees can drop their donation inside the hundies, he added.

This apart, six more donation boxes will be installed inside the Gundicha temple.

Notably, the SJTA had earlier issued public notice requesting the devotees not to give donation to the servitors in the temple.

The SJTA had also warned the servitors of action for violating the apex court’s order.
