Bhubaneswar: With the nation celebrating Rashtriya Ekta Diwas to mark the 142nd birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel today and ‘Run for Unity’ is being held across the country, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram flagged off the run here this morning.
The ‘Run for Unity’ which was started at the Patia Square also witnessed the presence of several other state BJP leaders as well as participants from all age groups. The run would end at Janta Maidan in the city.
While talking to reporters ahead of the run Jual Oram said the ‘Run for Unity’ is being held to commemorate Patel’s contribution to India and is being held in all states with participation of top leaders and officials. He said he would run from Patia Square to Janta Maidan leading the participants.
Notably, the marathon which is being held in the country every year since 2014 on October 31, also aims at preserving and strengthening the unity, integrity and security of the country. As a part of the observation this year, PM Narendra Modi lead a run of around 20,000 participants at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium at New Delhi this morning.
