Ramchandra Hansda gets bail in Chit fund Scam

New Delhi: In a major relief to suspended Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Lok Sabha MP Ramchandra Hansda, who was lodged in jail since over three years in connection with Nabadiganta chit fund scam, Supreme Court granted him bail today. This was informed by Hansda’s lawyers.

The CBI, which is probing the multi-crore chit fund scam, had arrested Hansda for his alleged involvement in the chit fund scam in November 2014.

Later, the investigating agency had filed charge sheet against Hansda and seven others for their alleged complicity in the multi-crore chit fund scam in February 2015.

The Mayurbhanj MP, who was suspended from BJD following his arrest, was one of the founding members and directors of Nabadiganta Capital Services.

The investigating agency had also raided Hansda’s residence at Baripada in July, 2014 where it had seized Rs 28 lakh.

Notably, the parliamentarian had resigned from the company in 2012.
