President Ram Nath Kovind visits Srimandir, offers prayer

Puri: President Ram Nath Kovind, who is on his maiden visit to Odisha with wife Savita Kovind paid a visit to Sri Jagannath Temple and offered prayers here on Sunday.

An elaborate and detailed security arrangement had been put in place in and around the temple by the district administration and Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) for the President’s visit. Restriction was also clamped on darshan of deities by devotees till 8.30 AM.

Kovind, who is on a two-day visit to Odisha is scheduled to address a slew of events in the state today. He would address the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan in Puri and grace the convocation of IIT Bhubaneswar. The ICT-IOC (Institute of Chemical Technology –Indian Oil Corporation) Bhubaneswar campus would also be inaugurated by the President.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Puri Collector Aravind Agarwal and State Revenue Minister Maheswar Mohanty accompanied Kovind during his darshan at the Srimandir.
