Pregnant minor girl rescued from Soro Station

Minor girlSoro: Odisha police rescued a 14-year-old girl, who was 7 months pregnant, from the railway station here on Thursday midnight.

Following a complaint by the locals, the girl was rescued by the police and sent to the local community health centre for a check-up, where the attending doctor found after tests that she was a minor and 7 months pregnant.

“The minor girl belongs to Pakadagali village of Jatni block in Khurda district,” informed the police quoting from her statement. “She has refused to return home as of now,” Police said.

Later, the police sent the girl to Swadhar Gruh, a home for destitute women and children sponsored by the Government of India and managed by SPEED organisation, in the town.
