Pradhan calls for freedom from Garbage, Poverty by 2022

Dharmendra PradhanBhubaneswar: Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan urged people to work hand in hand with the Modi government to get freedom from garbage, poverty, corruption, casteism, communalism and terrorism in the country by 2022, when the nation would celebrate 75 years of independence.

“India has made a lot of progress in the last 70 years but we need to get freedom from six social evils that include garbage, poverty, corruption, casteism, communalism and terrorism by 2022,” Pradhan said while addressing an exhibition-cum-seminar on ‘New India- We resolve to make’ here today to commemorate the 75 years of the Quit India Movement and forthcoming 75 years of Independence in 2022.

The Minister appealed to the people to take a pledge to strive hard and excel in their respective fields to collectively achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of New India.

He also felicitated young chess wizard Saina Salonika and women weightlifters of Odisha Jhilli Dalabehera and Sneha Soren on the occasion.

The five-day long exhibition-cum-seminar has been organised by Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs in association with Mahanadi Coalfield Limited (MCL) and Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP).

The exhibition focuses on India’s freedom movement from 1857 to 1947 showing the various activities during the freedom struggle – The first war of independence of 1857, Champaran Satyagrah, Non-Co-operation movement, Dandi Yatra, Quit India Movement etc.

Deputy Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs Ministry, R. C. Mohanty, Chairman & Managing Director of MCL A K Jha, Director (Technical/Operations) JP Singh, Director (Personnel) L N Mishra,, Director Technical/Projects & Planning) Mr OP Singh, were present on the occasion.
