Bhubaneswar: Taking swift action in the kidnapping of engineering student Anuj Jha on Thursday, Commissionerate Police arrested six persons, including two engineering students, from the city late last night and rescued the victim from their clutches.
The arrested persons have been identified as Dev Arpit Mishra, Priya Ranjan Mallik, Jyoti Prakash Mohanty, Chandan Dakua, Girish Naidu and Abhimanyu Das.
A team of Commissionerate Police chased the kidnappers’ vehicle and nabbed them near Phulnakhara Square last night. Police also seized a Tavera, a red Pulsar, a black Bullet and four mobile sets from their possession.
Anuj, who studies in a private engineering college in Bhubaneswar, was kidnapped from Jagamara area yesterday at around 1.30 pm. The kidnappers were demanding a ransom of Rs 10 lakh for his safe return.
