Balasore: An Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and his wife were killed after an unknown vehicle hit their bike near Rajghat on National Highway-60 under Basta block in the district here late on Tuesday night.
The deceased ASI has been identified as Bijay Das. He was working at the office of Jaleswar Sub-Divisional Police office (SDPO).
According to reports, Das and his wife were on their way to native village (Baisingha) in neighbouring Mayurbhanj district when the accident took place.
On being informed, local police rushed to the spot and brought the bodies by an ambulance to the Basta Community Health Centre at around 5:30 AM for postmortem.
Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
